Unique :)

+Very nice rendition of this piece. It's very upbeat, yet relaxing. Very unique with the percussion/woodwind aspect intertwining with each other. Made this piece amusing.

-At :14 - :21, the drum and hi-hat combo feels too empty. Keep the snare there, but maybe try offbeat hits.

-Needs a little more warmth in the bass end. The whole piece is lacking a foundation on the bass in some parts.

+Section at 1:24 is the most beautiful thing in the world. If you were going to do a loop...

Part 1-Start at 1:24, transition to beginning of song.
Part 2-Beginning of song, then go to :30. Repeat starting from part one

Another great loop start would be...

*Start at 0:30 and go to 1:24, repeat. A cool idea with that would be to, starting at :42, going to :49, have a chorus of people shout "hoooh" on beat 3 of each measure, something like that could be fun :P

***So there yah go, two possible loops you could make ;) Just keep experimenting and having fun. This was great :) Sorry for throwing all the random ideas out. I kinda go there when I get excited about the possibilities of music :P

Sorry? Throwing random ideas is GREAT! Hahaha.

Actually, I meant to have string bass and/or cello in there to bulk it up a little. I guess I got too excited that I posted it without writing it in, lol.

And I know what you mean about the lack of snare at :14-:21. I like the change in feel with taking the snare out though. I could add shaker or something though to keep a beat if you think that would work...

And I like your loop ideas. The only vocal stuff I have is some drumline vocals, haha. I bet I could find something to fit. I was also going to have Navi's "Hey!" and "Listen!" along with some Link noises, not necessarily on beat, but I couldn't find a place...

THANKS for the review! And I'm glad you liked the piece!

Sweet.

+...coolness
-....look into that part, etc.

+Captivating intro
+Overall, nice mix.
-Cymbals at the beginning sound a bit too tinny. Not enough warmth to the sound.
+/-The main riff is enjoyable. Was starting to get irritable until it got to the break around 1:07
-High distortion seems to be common
+Nice bass :)
+Nice add of reeverb on the part at 1:07
-Personal opinion, but a little more intricacy wouldn't hurt. The transitions are lovely, but I feel like I'm waiting until those happen for something exciting to happen.

*This is a work in prog, so no big deal. These are just some things that came up. Cooooolness :D

Ty.
Lol.
1. There's no reverb increase i know of...
2. I made the bass :)
3. Might want to listen to it again (Done Edits) has less distortion and more reverb.

Sweet

-I'd prefer a little more variation, but this is great stuff here. Nice sounding, great idea. Keep it up!

I guess i could add some more variation to it... but i've spent a shitload of time on it already and i actually have some other projects running... Thanks for the review though. (:

Yummmmmm.

Drumwork: Phenomenal. I enjoyed how technically pleasant the drums were.

Intro: Nice. I love the idea there. It does seem a bit too awkward though. The bass synth at the beginning needs to fade down to nothing coming into the next drum hit/delay, and then come back up a little, and then back down for the filter effect. The delay didn't feel long enough as well.

-Otherwise, this rocks!

Thanks for the review man. I have to agree, I never enjoyed my choice for the bass synth, and was trying to find something else I could use, but couldn't. I'll definitely look into that tonight. Thanks for the constructive criticism as well. I feel good getting a drum compliment from an actual drummer. Thanks again.

A very interesting mix. :)

I have not listened to the original, but this is quite the rendition here. Different than the usual game tunage that I'm familiar with. Let's break this down, eh?

-Mixing/Technical Work: Beautiful. It seems like everything that was intended came out nicely. The drums were beautiful in sound. The first hit sounds a bit distorted though. Doesn't make for a great beginning. Could be the speakers though. Look into it though?

-Lovely bass and synth sounds. The drums...idk what to make of them. I love the rhythms, but the drums don't seem to fit the flowing, rich, jungle-like picture. What I mean is this: they stick out. I don't know if that's volume or sound (EQ) stuff.

Music: Enjoyed the synth work, so no comments there.

-Let's talk drums. The entrance at :38 (ish) for the drums was a bit abrupt. Try putting a fill in there to keep the idea of transition going. This is a very flowing piece by the sounds of it. Keep the surprises to a minimum as far as those transitions go.

- :46-48 was rough without any cymbal. This part would be better with a more real drumkit (if not, a real drumkit), but it doesn't stand out with sampled drums. Add more rhythmic cymbal hits, keep the flowing pace going.

-The drums going out were great. It was abrupt, but the drum fill really made the transition natural, and then that heavy bass hit said "yes, we're done."

-Overall: Lovely stuff going here. I always find something amazing in your stuff.

Thanks man. Didn't notice the beginning.

Makes a cloudy day brighter.

Thanks.

np :)

yummy

-My only beef is the snare drum. It needs to be darker, more warlike, less like a popcorn snare. However, this is some beast music. I think you should add suspended cymbal swishes where necessary. Nice job dude :)

Thanx for review and feedback.
Soon I'll put a different mix up, with some improvement on trumpet (due to nathanallenpinard's review and his link to SIR1 reverb) and your opinion on the percussion.

Needs more dynamic work especially, but nice.

Dynamics: The contrasting volumes and contrasting drive of a song. Music has to go somewhere, even if it's electronic-based. Try different things.

-Intro: Great! Simple, but effective.
-Getting into it: nice fill to come into the next idea, but put small variations in between for more contrast and fun.
-Ending: a good transition point. I like the contrast it gave.

Style: Well, I'm a sucker for noise-electronica. However, I think it could be more sporatic and crazy. NOT LOUD AND MORE GRITTY. More crazy fills, more glitch effects, etc. Put those in!

Mixing: I like the distortedness, really nice. Perhaps a more driving bass drum would be interesting XD

Overall: Sweet, but experiment and have some fun with it. It's kinda straight-forward. Play this tune with more variation and effects/fills that catch the ear, and this groovin' gold.

Why thank you for the constructive criticism! I shall use it wisely!

Constructive comments, but no crapping, sorry :P

Melody-Extremely awesome, but it seems like there's a slight blip in the melody occasionally. Look into that and make sure the melody flows more cohesively if that is the goal of the music.

Mixing-3/4's of the way there. I really like it. Needs some more refinement. It seems really basic. The melodic synths are great. The rest could be more meaty.

Intro-Needs to be the first 13 seconds only. It's kind boring after that.

Effects-Next to none, makes the song feel like it's going nowhere. Work on more transition effects especially, those make a song more appealing and tasteful.

-Overall: Good. Needs more refinement and creativity. Experiment! Test the limits, and have fun :)

X3850 responds:

Thanks! I'll try to keep that stuff in mind next song!

True demo. Needs more solid work and refinement.

Intro-sloppy and lots of static in the filter effect. Needs attention.

Synths-Seemed to overpower the drums. Need balancing between the drums and synths to give the song a more tonally stable sound.

Effects-Nice effects, but consider mixing, and how to get the effects working together rather than against each other. There's so much going on that the EQ'ing, panning, and volues really need to be taken into account for the effects to work as well as the entire piece to work.

Bass Synth and Bass Drum-Key for a solid mix. Seems as though they do not compliment each other. They're fighting for the same EQ'ing space, so they blend instead of both sounding meaty and fresh, pacing the tempo for the song.

Music Itself-Very nice. Very repetitive. Work on a more interesting song structure and find new way to arrange the work. Make other ideas and connect them together to create a cohesive thought.
