Two things...

...that I've noticed that stick out from your style that are amazing...

Your ability to use dynamics in electronica based music is astounding.

Your slightly glitched melodies really accent the song in a very awesome way.

-This song sounded child-ish, which is said in a good way. It had a very playful and bouncy feel to it. Gah, good job. I know I will never make Dance music this good, but I'll find my way in the music realm i suppose :P

Envy responds:

Haha well. If you heard B0UNC3's reasoning behind the song you'd understand how everything works. I won't tell you guys that because its not my story to tell 8D.

Thanks for the review!

Gah, so many people bashing...

This isn't amazing, I can say that with a straight face, but saying this sucks? no...this is better than alot of the crap I hear on the audio portal. You're really good at making the song interesting with presets dude. Keep working at it, I think you'll get somewhere good with practice.

Fredgy responds:

thanks, i don't think it is amazing or so good, i think it is just good enough for being my 3th song ever..

mmm, delicious

Very chill, but nice sound, I really like this style of music for some reason, it really works with me.

Hey, mastering takes practice and experimentation!

It'll come with time, just keep working on it.

-Really nice update, this wrote out to be pretty nice! I really think that if you could, you should get someone to rap over your song about madness. If you can't find anyone, I'll take some time to do it before the deadline (if I can come-up with anything, it depends. I'm good at poetry, but it takes a little bit to start out).

-Overall, nice job. If you want some help with mixing, here's some tips...

-Listen for frequencies you don't like. When you find those in certain instruments, lower that frequency range by a little bit until the frequency is there, but out of the way. As for the reese (whatever you call it) and the bass drum, there's still some conflict in hearing both with precision. Honestly, I'd take the 1-2 Khz range of the bass drum and raise it 2 dB, or somewhere around. Experiment with that until you get a good bass sound between the bass drum and reese. PM if you need any more advice, gtg, dinner!

flyingmidget responds:

Thnx again man, the main issue about the kick is that Im using VERY shitty headphones or laptop speakers. The headphones have a cutoff of about 60Hz (effective) so I cant really hear the deeper bass sounds well. The laptop speakers completely get rid of bass and some of the lower-mid range too xD.

As for the rap! yeah that dude that would be awsome, but Im far to lazy to work on this song anymore, if ya want you can have it xD, but yeah Ive moved on to my next song :)

I disagree...

I think this is more classical era than baroque. There isn't enough "grandness" to define that part of baroque. The setup of the song is also very classical. Either way, really awesome song, this is very awesome, the greats in music composition would be applauding you if they could!

Teacher of Anger!

Nice stuff here, it's really peaceful. I would compare this to the awesomeness of the Legend of Zelda music. Very nice orchestration, seemed very down to earth, especially with all the ambient sounds. This makes my day more peaceful, I've been pretty angery today, thanks :)

MaestroRage responds:

Thanks Imperfect! I'm glad to hear this helped your anger, though i'm not glad to hear you were angry :(. I hope whatever it was, is taken care of.

Thanks again for the review, i'm glad you liked it! I'll check into that song and have a listen!

Hmm...

Some thoughts...

-The song didn't have much to say with dynamics. The song has no where to go when the same phrase is repeated a billion times in a row. The same theme was very linear throughout the song. Change volumes, create music and not a bunch of ideas thrown together.

-That syncopated snare part would have worked better with accents on the offbeats. This sounds like a march to battle. Marches usually place more emphasis on the downbeats. You have a lot of notes going against the rhythm, and those are felt better when they are softened in volume. Keep the volume of the notes on the snare on the downbeat, and soften the volume on the off-beats. Make the snare rolls crescendo as well (soft to loud), that'll give it more character.

-Basically, make it what you want, but make it more elaborate and well, detailed. This just sounds like some background loop, make this a piece of art, the music has potential to be so much more!!!

-Some accents were nice.

HMS-Productions responds:

Thanks a lot, your advice is very elaborate and detailed. I'll take another look at the song, dont think I'll re-submit it though. I know what you mean and I see that same flaws, but I'll use your advice on the next song I make.

I'll check out your song, good luck in the the contest :D

Sweet!

Just find a way to EQ out that static fuzz in the mix and you're set. Either that, or get a better recording setup :P

Needs a bassier end

Not much to say after that. Work on a bassier end, and you'll have a much better sounding song.

Haha

This song and the "forever" version of the song remind me of the "Please wakeup (you're scaring me)" song you made, all of them are pretty tight. I prefer this over the "forever" song because of the dynamics of the drums, and how you used them. Intro-ed in with some kicking stuff, but then it got used more and more sparingly, which gave way for piano to creep through the cracks of the mistakes (the drums). That's what I get visually. The piano represents moving on from our mistakes while the drums are the mistakes that people judge us by. Sometimes, the mistake is harder to see, but some people still know that the scar is there.

-Again, nice job!
