Haha, t3h mammoth!

This is definitely a really fun remix. It sticks with the original while also adding a different flavor along with it. Just a great listen for sure!

thx for teh reviewzor bro

WHY?!?!??!

Don't stab the synth like that? And those off pitched synths too, how could you? You turned this amazingly pretty song into a nightmare! And using those FL snare drum presets? Comon' you showed me in the chorus that you're so much more capable of producing a pretty song, keep that tone throughout, don't destroy, it's so terrifying. Sorry if I seem to be over dramatizing, but you turned what could have been an extremely beautiful song into something that just hurts to hear in some places. If this is a love song, make it soft, smoothed out, pretty : D

-Yeah, sorry about getting really knit-picky, but think of it this way...

...A wife bakes a cake for her husband (being the nice thing to do as a surprise). She bakes it with her full heart of love, but she can't find the milk, so she uses coffee creamer, and for the sugar that accidentally spilled all over the floor, she uses salt. What is the husband gonna think when he eats the cake?

DaGrahamCraka responds:

lol, those arent fl snare drum presets buddy. nice try though ;)

i like your analogy though.

Nice sound...

I guess that's what you get for being a pro though :P

-It's not the most diverse track out there, it keeps a fairly same theme throughout without anything new, which really puts this song to shame, there's really nothing new introduced in the song. Add at least one other thing in there (maybe a melody that comes in once and then comes out for the rest of the song). I'm guessing that the gritty synth that goes throughout the song is supposed to be the melody, but it sounds too blended into the song to be that way.

-Again, nice sound overall, do you use a specific program that you make drum sounds with and the sort?

-Check my audio :D

Yosh-X responds:

check out: myspace.com/yoshx

I agree!!!

Stop using presets!!!

-In one argument, presets or not don't determine a good song, but you've seriously got to create your own sound. You can do that!!!

-Just fiddle around with FX and automation, as soon as you understand that, everything becomes so much easier!!! Composition is okay for now, but put some melodic meaning to the song, make a blend of sound!

-Good try though, but you can so much better!

zerofalse responds:

yeah, ive come a long way since my first FL song but i still dont know about sound modification and that sort of stuff. its like im bounded to a limited selection of instruments =/
if you could tell me some more about presets and all that stuff it would be cool
thanx for your review and opinion

YES!!!

Nice demo! You've got a good idea of what to do here. It's quite enjoyable, especially the glitchy-ness of this track. Just remember to keep adding a nice progression of beats and how the song flows. You've got a nice intro, now build upon that and make necessary changes that you want into the beats where it's crazy, then backs down, goes to the main beat, for example. Keep layering in more sounds in too, the ones you've got are great, just keep on going!!!

DarkValentine responds:

Thanks, the track is actually something that a friend of mine wanted me to do, as a request. he liked how the demo came out, and is waiting for the full version. it should be done within the next few days.

or when i have more free time. Thanks for the Review.

I give you ten cause you're cool : D

To be brutally honest though, this song has got more potential to be more focused towards your beginning part. The drums there could be messed with throughout the song while keeping the same mainframe of the beat. I was digging the beginning until you kicked in with the offbeat bass drum. That was a terrible choice (at least in the beginning). You've got a lot of nice instrument FX, I need to learn from you : P

-But try this instead. Keep the same beginning. Take out the gated synth that comes in first before the offbeat bass drum. Now, what you do is put your basic kick drum on every downbeat setup to mix with the glitch beginning. Add more glitches as fills to signify change in the structure in the song and put that offbeat off 'till later or leave it out all together. Then add all the other stuff you've been using throughout your song. Do you have FL? If so, PM me so I can give you my e-mail so you can send me the file, and I'll show you kinda what I'm talking about. NOTICE!!!-You don't have to do this, and even if you do, you don't necessarily have to take my advice. But it might help with future projects.

-Your transfers could be better. Each individual instrument had some great riffing though :D

-Good attempt though, your ideas are great, but can be constructed further to give you even better results!

Jiao-Zhang responds:

Thanks for the discriptive review! And yes , I have Fl, but I use Plugins for synths and 3x Osc. But I'll send it in .ZIP file.

I know what you mean by the bassdrum. I know its offbeat, but it still sounds cool! Thanks for the review!

Lolz!

I gave you a ten 'cause you're cool, but I'm going to be extremely knit-picky about this >8 D

But first, some cool things : D

-The first 10-20 seconds were very pleasant, especially the crowd cheer and your transfer out of it.
-It had great sound quality

Now to bad, which will with improvement...

-Your first build just before you add claps in the song lacks enthusiasm. You've got your snare build, and maybe some volume build, but that's about it. The build is dead. You know how the drums kick off at that build? Put some hi-hat and clap action there, with claps on 2 and 4 of the beat and hi-hat on the and of every beat, that'll add flavor, maybe even some bass hits into there to mix it up : P

-What set's this about from the original mix aside from better samples and some other cool FX? Make a composition that says this is your own. You know what? A mix like this must be insanely fun, but wouldn't it be more fun with something compositional-wise that separates your mix and the original, but still keeps that flavor of the original? This type of mix has been done before, extend your boundaries, you've got the talent. You've made a "Clocks" remix from Coldplay and a Harry Potter Remix, those are unique. Make this unique.

-The ending is kinda disappointedly, seems rushed. It's like you had the best chicken of the flock, and you got so exited about eating that chicken, you messily cut its head off, and now the chicken is horrible. Why didn't you cook the chicken? You've tended and cared for it, so keep that up at the end too!!!

-Good attempt though, you'll get it : D

Weird, and out of control!

It's just freakin' crazy! The only things I don't like about this song are the bass drum and the beats. The beats are too Drum and Bass like, change it to a straight downbeat "BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM", and mix with the hi-hat and snare from there. The bass drum could have been more distorted in order to fit that weird and insane tone.

-Nice :D

-ImperfectDisciple-

DSMagnum responds:

I liked how I made the bass beats and what not. If I made them anymore distorted, the song would've clipped more. I personally like everything how I made it. Thanks for reviewing though!

Wow!

Great choice for the title and the genre, this is certainly overlooked : D

I can see this story in a video game style (at least the beginning) where a commander in chief is thinking whether to use a nuclear weapon in order to destroy the enemy forces in a war that has stretched out for 10 years. This commander thinks over 42 different things that relate to the war and what this nuclear weapon can do. But it's too late, the weapon is released, and the commander can't do anything about it. The weapon is launched upon a city of innocent people rather than military forces, and all the commander can do is watch. The word of this occurrence spreads across the nation of the commander, and the commander is left in tears. Unfortunately, this weapon is a mechanical robot 2 stories high, and it continues to destroy the world. Towards the end, the commander recruits a special task force to deal with the robot. End story.

Well, yes, I do get this bored at...midnight, but yeah, this song is cool man : D

-ImperfectDisciple-

Kimken responds:

Haha!
That wasn't expected as a review! :D
But i'm glad that it was very positive!

Good story. Where is the flashmovie for that? :D

Listen to more songs from us and review!

Cool track!

Love the electric guitar, but where's your bass drum? That's like, an essential to this song, that driving force that sets a standard for the song, but all you've got are some toms and cymbals, plus snare drum. Get that bass drum mixed in right if it is there!

-Otherwise, good attempt, I wish I could record my drums nicely so I could help people like you out with real samples. It hurts to see that opportunity go bye ; (

Check my audio!!!

-ImperfectDisciple-

OrphanShadow responds:

Yeah, I know what you mean about the bass drums...but im workin on it, so my next attempt should be an improvement

ImperfectDisciple-Re cording the world one track at a time.
